On April 15, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal a law requiring workers to pay taxes when they use employer-provided cell phones for personal reasons.

The measure would end the need for employers to keep detailed records when employees use company-owned cell phones or similar devices for both business reasons and personal convenience. The provision would save employees $411 million in taxes over 10 years.  Under the current rules, cellphones and PDAs are taxable fringe benefits.
